What's New on the CorrDefense Web Site?
Many users of the CorrDefense Web site have asked, "How do I find a document or other type of file on the CorrDefense Web site?"
The best way to find a document or other type of file on the CorrDefense Web site is to use the Search feature. From the home page, click on the Search tab. This will take you to the Search function. Fill in the text boxes, select from the pull-down menus, and check or uncheck locations where the search engine should look, as is most appropriate.
For example, if you are looking for Cost of Corrosion reports, you could type "cost of corrosion" in the text box that is labeled "with the exact phrase." You could leave the pull-down menus in their default positions, with the exception of "return file where terms occur." For this pull-down menu, select "in the meta data." This will limit the search to descriptive information that has been linked to the document, rather than searching within the document itself. You could also leave all of the check boxes "checked," because you are not sure where on the Web site the Cost of Corrosion reports are located. After you click "search," the system will generate a set of matches that will be displayed on one or more pages. Select the file or files that you are looking for, and download them by clicking on the hyper-link.
There is obviously a trade-off involved when you choose your search parameters. The narrower your search terms are, the fewer the number of documents returned. If you use broad search terms, you are more likely to find the document you are searching for, but the number of documents returned will be much larger. For example, if you enter the search terms "annual cost of corrosion," you will receive fewer matches.
